“We are
the whole Japanese” Drama and disasters Japan was cruelly struck march 11th, 2011. Immediately, the communication of information didn't permit us to estimate the scale. Furthermore, the destruction caused by the earthquake of the huge tsunami a lot of damage and nuclear reactors couldn't be controlled. Tens of thousand persons life-lost. Hundreds of thousand people left homeless and the fondations of the industrial and economic system of the country were reduced to nothing. Uncertainty and anxiety When I write these lines, we cant' say that the situation, radioactivity level, is controlled or controllable. But, we know, the radioactivity particles propagate through the atmosphere and the ocean. Japan is far from us by geoagraphy but not by the heart. Our Groupe is in constant contact with this country. Beyond the professional relationship, many of us have friends. Globalization : effectiveness or weakness Opening markets has allowed greater efficiency among nations but this system revealed weaknesses. Indeed, the Japanese earthquake stopped the supply of many companies in the world ( subcontracting, cotraitance, exchange of products, parts and components). The hope of universal solidarity We hope that this tragedy will improve relation between differents countries. The violence of nature in Japan recalled the right human dimension. We are all concerned by the drama who lives the Japanese population: the nature has no border. We conclude this editorial with a thought for the Japanese Ambassador and his wife in Libreville, so they know the support of all Sogafricains. At this tragic time, we are the whole Japanese because we are global citizens. Chairman and Managing Director Christian KERANGALL |
