Boutonnet, a kite-surfing enthusiast
Kite Surfing, also called Fly-Surfing, is a nautical sport consisting in standing, with one's feet staggered, on a surfboard and being pulled by a traction kite. This hybrid sport, which belongs to the families of surfing and traction-kiting, enables to skim the surface of water at a very high speed, to perform jumps that may be spectacular (8- to 10-m high) and execute very diverse figures in the air. However, in contrast to Wind-Surfing or Wake-board, landing must be perfectly smooth. The set of gear includes mainly a wake-board- or surf-type board, on which footstraps are fitted, a traction kite and a safety harness tying the surfer to the kite. Kite-surfing remains a very dangerous sport
(1st cause of serious sport-related fatal accidents in France). It is therefore highly advisable, before undertaking any individual experiment, to take a training course.
