WORKS MANAGER

General presentation

 

The SOGAFRIC Group deploys its commercial activity in very diversified sectors : automobiles, civil engineering and logging machinery, refrigeration and air conditioning, household appliances, office equipment, forestry …


Missions
 

(place in the hierarchical structure, main tasks, interdepartmental relations, responsibilities,…)

At a general level – depending upon the goals set by the logging manager and subject to the constraints of sustainable forest management – he/she is responsible for leading operations on a logging yard.

In this respect, in terms of logging, he/she

  • ensures the attainment of the monthly and yearly production targets set to him/her in terms of quantity and quality, consistent with the authorized harvesting plans,
  • plays a crucial part in the presentation of timber for increasing the value of the resource,
  • for that purpose, monitors all the logging operations (trailing, felling, skidding, haulage, building of rafts and monkey- boats),
  • supervises the person responsible for the road network and mechanical maintenance, and takes part in the definition of road layouts according to the production goals,
  • ensures that the park of equipment is commensurate with the production requirements and that preventive and remedial maintenance is up to standards,
    Regarding the organisation of the logging yard,
  • oversees the organisation of the work,
  • ensures that the quality of life (health, food…) is up to standards
  • is the couterpart of the staff representatives and participates in the training and recruitment of manpower,
    At the administrative level,
    Sees to the good keeping of all administrative documents required on the logging yard (logbook, traceability of logs…)

Is placed under the authority of the logging manager.


Profile
 

( Requested knowledge, expected skills, education, …)

Required qualifications : Higher education : A-level + 3-4 years
Speciality : logging or equivalent level with a strong experience in logging in equatorial zones
Requested personal abilities : management of men in an isolated setting. Diplomacy and sens of negotiation, capacity to live in an isolated setting under harsh climate constraints. Organization, method, sens of responsibility
Requested behaviour : rigour, firmness, sense of equity, availability.
